Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is designed to firm and smooth the abdomen.  The procedure removes excess abdominal skin and fat that is concentrated in the abdomen area.  Abdominoplasty can also tighten muscles that have been separated and weakened by pregnancy.   The result is a firmer, flatter abdominal profile.

Reasons to Consider Abdominoplasty:

• Excess localized fat in the abdominal area
• Loose and sagging skin in the abdomen
• Weakened or separated abdominal muscles due to pregnancy, weight loss or aging

General Procedure:

A horizontal incision is made below the bikini line.   The shape and length of the incision depends upon the amount of excess skin to be removed.  Excess fat, tissue and skin are removed and weakened abdominal muscles may be repaired.

Recovery:

During recuperation, some swelling, bruising and discomfort are normal.  Pain can be controlled with medication.  Surgical drainage tubes are usually removed after a week but a support garment should be worn for several weeks and straining and lifting should be avoided. Although recovery times vary, most people return to non strenuous work with two to three weeks.
